'Untitled', dimensions variable, 16 fuji film instant photos
The title of the exhibition was 'Tactile: Do Not Touch' referring to the fact that the work created by each artist was created in a physical manner with none of the artists using new media in their work.My piece was created using a Holgaroid I constructed last year and expired peel apart film. The photos are portraits of different people and were taken in varying degrees of light, time taken to peel apart the film and varying exposures. I am interested in using 'faulty' materials or 'faulty' methods in the creation of my photographs in order to question what failure is and who I am creating this work for. The photographs are arranged from light to dark and from warm to cold as if they are all test shots.
Participating artists included Eleanor McCaughey, Laura Sweeney, Ann Appleby, Emer Bermingham, Sarah Jane Comerford, Vita Ryan, Lisa Ronan and Sarah Standing.
